Despite temperatures well past the century mark, the Seventh Annual Dusty Golf Tournament last weekend at Lake Casa Blanca Golf Course attracted a record 180 participants in the two-day scholarship benefit for students at Texas A&M International University.

A&M International president Dr. Ray Keck greeted participants, thanking them for their support.

"About 70 percent of our students qualify for and receive financial aid to complete their higher education dream, and we are most grateful to Tournament participants for providing this much-needed scholarship support, " Dr. Keck said.

Friday evening's silent auction was also the largest in the event with items including everything from spa packages and works by local artists to a mammoth gas grill and yoga lessons. Completing his fourth term as Tournament Director was Dr. Stephen Lunce, TAMIU professor of information systems.
