Summer Programs at the University: Just for Kids!

Children of all ages will have exciting options this summer at Texas A&M International University, from learning about kitchen chemistry to the essentials of soccer as the Office of Special Programs and the Athletics Department help kids learn and succeed, both mentally and physically.

The following programs will be offered at TAMIU this summer. Please note that space is limited and early registration is recommended.

Kinder Camp 2002 - June 10 through July 3, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday - Friday. Children ages 4 and 5 will get a head start on learning in a fun and stress-free environment with hands-on activities in math, science, reading, art and music. Tuition is $200. Children's Summer Workshop - June 10 through July 3, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday - Friday. Children in grades first through sixth can choose three workshops to learn and play in. Workshop titles include: Computer.edu, Co-op sports, Writing Adventures (publish a book), Movement Madness (dance), What's a matter (science), Paint, paint paint (art), Figure it out (math), Toot, wack and do re mi (sing/play/move) and Hello, world! (language, culture and traditions.) Tuition is $225. Please call 326.2700 for more information or to register.

Summer Academy 2002 - June 10 through July 3, 12 - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. Students in grades 7-12 can chose from three to four classes to entertain and educate. Subjects for middle school students include computer graphics, introduction to guitar, cyberspace scavenger hunt and kitchen chemistry, among others. High school students can select courses such as SAT math or English prep, creative sculpture, or mystic potions, perfumes and other concoctions. Tuition is $250 plus lab fees for three classes and $300 plus lab fees for four classes. Please call 326.2700 for more information or to register.

Soccer Camp - June 10 through June 13, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Boys and girls ages 8 - 18 will learn the skills and moves for soccer. Tuition is $58 for those who pre-register, $62 on-site. Basketball Camp (Girls) - June 17 through June 20. Middle school girls will meet from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and high school girls will meet from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuition is $58 for those who pre-register, $62 on-site. The price includes a T-shirt. Middle school boys will meet from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and high school boys will meet from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuition is $58 for those who pre-register, $62 on-site. The price includes a T-shirt. Volleyball Camp (Individual) - June 10 through June 13, 1 - 5 p.m. This camp is open to boys and girls from youth to 18 years old. Participants will be introduced to the sport and learn the rules and have fun. Tuition is $58 for those who pre-register, $62 on-site. The price includes a T-shirt. Volleyball Camp (Teams) - July 15 through 18, 1 - 5 p.m. Individuals as well as groups are invited. The program is open to boys and girls from age 7 to 18.
