More than $63,000 in Texas AMP Scholarships Awarded to TAMIU Students

This past semester, the Texas Alliance for Minority Participation (Texas AMP) awarded more than $63,000 in scholarships to 128 Texas A&M International University students. This is a 20 percent increase from Fall 2001 in both the money awarded and the number of students receiving a Texas AMP scholarship.

Scholarships went to full and part-time students majoring in physics, math, chemistry, biology, computer information systems and pre-engineering. Awards ranged from $109 to $500. Ninety-five percent of the students received the maximum amount.

TAMIU Texas AMP scholarships were awarded to Alejandra L. Albrecht, Ricardo Albrecht, Armando Alvarado, Cristina Ayala, César Orlando Bañuelos, Juan Pablo Benavides, Gerardo Botello, Aldo Guadalupe Boyless, Gabriel Adrián Cantú, Maria Isabel Cantú, Gonzalo Castillo, Roxana Castillo, Robert Luis Castillón, Heriberto Castro, Imelda Graciela Chapa, Claudia B. Chávez, Claudia Cisneros, Pamela Clark, Yareth Coutino, Charles Edward Dalrymple, Valerie Marie De La Paz, Luis Ricardo DeLeón, Melissa Del Castillo, James Edward Delgado, Suhujey Díaz, and Adrián Domínguez.

Texas AMP scholarships also went to Aurora Domínquez, Agustin Elizondo, Rebecca Jo Espinoza, Sergio Espinoza Jr., Bernice Z. Esteghamatdarshad, Marissa Ileana Fermín, Carlos Arturo Fernández, Azalea Iris Flores, Carlos Enrique Flores, Jesús Flores, José Angel Flores, Noe Misael Flores, Stefanie Anne Fritzges, Alejandro Antonio Gammon, Georgina Elizabeth García, Rosa Elizabeth García, Sylvia Grisell Garza, Gloria Idalia Gómez, Alejandro González, Andrés González, Guillermo Francisco González, Maderlin Duncan Guevara, José Manuel Hernández, Juan José Hernández, Mike Herrera IV, and José Roberto Hinojosa.
