If you or someone you know is interested in learning English, Texas A&M International University's International Language Institute (ILI) can help.

This summer, from July 8 through August 2, ILI will hold a one-month intensive English as a Second Language summer institute. Classes will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5:10 p.m., Monday through Friday and cost $485, exclusive of books. The registration deadline is July 3.

Lola Pérez, director of ILI, said that the course would be offered in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. She explained the classes will focus on using English to communicate in everyday situations.

"The classes will place particular emphasis on listening, speaking, improving one's pronunciation and building one's vocabulary. In addition, students will learn grammar, reading and writing. We'll help students improve their English with a variety of fun activities related to school, social life, work and leisure," said Perez.

She said an intensive course is a good way to immerse oneself in the language.

"Meeting everyday like this will really enforce the lessons and help one integrate the language into one's daily life. In addition, since the course is a month long, students will learn quickly and be able to use their knowledge right away," she said.

For more information or to register, please call the International Language Institute at 326.2136, or visit offices in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 316. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
