New TAMIU Students Encouraged to Attend Overnight Orientation

Students attending Texas A&M International University for the first time this Fall will be required to attend Overnight Freshmen Orientation to learn about TAMIU services and resources, while familiarizing themselves with campus life.

The orientation dates for undergraduate students will be Aug. 14-15. Programs begin at 9 a.m. the first day and conclude at 2 p.m. the next day.

Students can register for an orientation by contacting the Office of Student Development and paying a $20 fully refundable deposit on or before Aug. 5.

Orientation is scheduled to be held in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center. Participants must bring personal toiletries and a change of clothes and are reminded to bring a sleeping bag.

Students are provided with a campus tour and various discussions of University services by campus organizations and representatives, along with social activities, games and treats, such as a banana split surprise.

International, transfer and graduate students will be able to attend a new orientation on Aug. 21-22 at the Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 111 at 5:30 p.m. There, they will learn additional information pertaining to each group.
