The entire May 2002 class of Texas A&M International University's Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing has passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), the national licensure examination required for entry into practice as a Registered Nurse. Dr. Susan Baker, director of the Canseco School of Nursing, said this first-time pass rate is a remarkable achievement.

"All of our May graduation students passed this rigorous test the first time. A 100% pass rate is exemplary and truly reflects the dedication of the School of Nursing faculty and staff, as well as the students. In addition, it reflects the unparalleled support of the University and the Laredo community that provided resources to enhance the students' success," said Dr. Baker.

Fifteen of the graduates are employed by Laredo's two hospitals and three have sought specialty training out of town, Baker said.

The new Registered Nurses are: Alma Escobedo, Maria de Lourdes Sánchez, Diana Gutierrez, Laura Moncivais, Anna Alicia Jimenez, Irene Gala, Lilian Sánchez, Patricia Velasquez, Jesús Castro, Marisa Silva, Joanna Cantu, Manuel Flores, Mirna Vergara, Claudio Ruíz, Zulema Ramirez, Julio Lujano, Griselda Salas, and Andy Linares.
