Rodney Webb, director of Texas A&M International University's Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, recently announced the reclassification of a position to improve the services provided to students and other library users.

David Ratliff, formerly Reference and Interlibrary Loan librarian, will now be Reference and Access Services librarian. Webb explained this new assignment will combine Ratliff's previous responsibilities in interlibrary loan with direct responsibility for circulation and periodicals.

"Combining responsibility for these areas will facilitate task-sharing, and smooth the introduction of the interlibrary loan automation module. In addition, we are launching a new electronic reserves service, which will require staff to assume new duties such as scanning documents for electronic access. Mr. Ratliff will be responsible for coordinating these new services and will therefore need to have direct supervision of both departments," explained Webb.

He also noted that Mr. Ratliff will handle copyright clearance for electronic reserves. Webb said he hopes library users will find the new services and new structure helpful.
