The Texas A&M International University Alumni Association will host its Annual Alumni Meeting and Halloween Get Together on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Coyote Creek Warehouse Restaurant, 4615 San Bernardo Avenue.

Graduates of TAMIU, the former Laredo State University and Texas A&I University at Laredo are encouraged to attend. Admission is free and open to all graduates.

Candy Hein, TAMIU vice president for institutional advancement, said the group plans a fun meeting with valuable networking and involvement opportunities.

"The meeting will offer participants an opportunity to hear about the University's growth, elect officers and plan for the future, discuss benefits of Association membership and win door prizes," Hein said.

She noted that the Association's involvement is pivotal to the University.

"The Association has long been committed to helping to secure funding for student scholarships and members have also served in an advisory capacity through much of the University's growth and development. We encourage their support and welcome their continued involvement," she said.

From a former study carrel on a shared campus, the University has grown to become the state's first new University constructed in over 20 years on an impressive 300-acre campus in northeast Laredo.

With enrollment at 3,726 this semester, TAMIU is one of the fastest growing campuses in The Texas A&M University System. This Fall, enrollment grew 10.5% and Semester Credit Hours (SCH), upon which State formula funding is based, grew 13%.

Fast becoming a major regional University, TAMIU is now home to 54 undergraduate or graduate programs and is currently completing Phase III of its campus expansion.
