University Sets Dates for Provost Open Forums

Open Forums for Texas A&M International University's three candidates for its provost and vice president for academic affairs have been scheduled.

The Forums are intended to give the public an opportunity to participate in the University's selection process, said Joe Garcia, vice president for finance and administration and chair of the search committee.

"We encourage our University community and the public to participate in this process and provide us with their insight," Garcia said.

The Forums are as follows:

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1:15 p.m., Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC) Room 116, Dr. W. Harold Ornes.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 1:15, WHTC 116, Dr. Dan R. Jones.

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1:15 p.m., WHTC 116, Dr. Mauro E. Castro.

Dr. Ornes is dean of the College of Science at Southern Utah University, Cedar City, UT.

Dr. Jones is dean of University College at the University of Houston-Downtown.

Dr. Castro is associate dean of the School of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

The provost and vice president for academic affairs is TAMIU's chief

academic officer and is responsible for the maintenance, development and implementation of the University's academic programs.
