Planning for retirement may not be easy, but a special class to be offered at Texas A&M International University may provide helpful hints that could lead to years of comfortable freedom from the world of work.

The class, "Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement," will meet four consecutive Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., beginning Oct. 29 or Oct. 31 in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 104.

Tuition is $49 and each paid registrant may enroll a spouse or guest for free. Interested persons may register for the class by visiting the University's Office of Continuing Education, located in the Student Center, room 126E.

The class will provide participants with in-depth information needed to plan and enjoy a comfortable retirement. Those enrolling in the class will learn how to potentially increase their investment returns and maximize retirement income.

In addition, participants will learn how to protect assets from inflation, estate and income taxes, and erosion due to long-term health care needs.

Both beginning and experienced investors can attend the classes.

For further information, please contact Sergio Barragán, program coordinator at the University's Office of Special programs at 326-2700, e-mail sbarragan@tamiu.edu or visit offices located in the Student Center, room 126E. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
