Texas A&M International University offers a variety of study abroad opportunities that can enrich minds and open doors to new worlds.

Jannet García, director of the Office for International Programs, said students can take advantage of summer, semester, or year-long programs abroad. TAMIU offers several exchange programs with foreign institutions.

"These exchange programs allow our students to pay tuition at TAMIU, go abroad and take courses, and then transfer their credits back to the University," García said.

García said the universities include the Ecole Superieure de Commerce-Chambery, France; Ecole Superieure de Commerce Marseille-Provence, France; Fachhochschüle Fur Technik & Wirtschaft-Berlin, Germany; Europa Universitat Viadrina, Germany; Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico; Universidad Regiomontana, Mexico; Universidad Autónoma de San Luís Potosí, Mexico; Arnhem Business School, The Netherlands; and Universidad de Córdoba, Spain.

Before participating in a program, students are advised on which study abroad program might fit their goals based on their major, degree plan, background, languages spoken, courses taken and destination preference, García said.

"We also have a scholarship program that offers awards ranging from $150 to $1000," García said.

All universities with which A&M International has agreements offer courses in either English or Spanish, García said.

Although it is recommended that students participate in an exchange program, García said she can suggest other study abroad programs if the student wishes to follow a course of study not offered through the exchange programs.

García said study abroad programs, in addition to academic preparation, give many students who have not visited foreign countries the opportunity to experience different customs and share with fellow students what they have learned.
