UT Law School Dean to Visit TAMIU Jan. 23

Dr. Bill Powers, dean of the University of Texas-Austin College of Law, will visit Texas A&M International University on Thursday, Jan. 23 to discuss law school admission requirements.

Powers is visiting TAMIU for the second time and will also explain UT-Austin College of Law's effort s to reach out to TAMIU students. The visit is scheduled at 10 a.m. in the Student Center, room 236. The event is free and the community is invited to attend.

Accompanying Powers will be UT law students and administrators. Last year's visit included president George Bush's nephew, George P. Bush, a UT law student.

Virginia Garcia, director of the sponsoring Office of Career Services, said students and the community are encouraged to attend the presentation.

"Applying for law school involves complicated steps and this is a perfect opportunity to hear it straight from the source," she said, "Also, Dr. Powers and the law students will talk about what it is like to be a law student."
