Medieval Festival Saturday at TAMIU

A simpler time when chivalry, civility, adventure and romance were commonplace visits the Texas A&M International University campus on Saturday, March 23 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. for the presentation of the Third Annual Medieval Festival.

The event, sponsored by the Student Government Association and Sigma Tau Delta, will take place on the campus plaza and will include music, food, games, movies and a reading in the original Middle English of Chaucer's "The General Prologue."

Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

A costume contest will encourage participants to dress the part and clubs schedule to provide entertainment or activities include the TAMIU Guitar Ensemble, TAMIU Thespians, TAMIU Club de Español, and TAMIU Film Club.

The day's schedule is as follows:

12 noon - 1 p.m. - TAMIU's Guitar Ensemble

1:00 - 2:30 p.m. - Puppet Show (by the Laredo Public Library)

2:30 - 3:30 p.m. - Free time to enjoy medieval music, play games, take pictures at the pillory/stock, sample the food and the moonwalk.

3:30 -- 4:30 p.m. - Presentation of "Crazed Love" (a play written and produced by TAMIU's Thespians)

4:30 -- 5:00 p.m. -- Puppet Show Repeats

5:00 -- 6:00 p.m. -- Chaucer Reading
