TAMIU Offers AP Teaching Courses for Middle, High School Educators This Summer

Middle school and high school teachers interested in teaching Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) or Advanced Placement (AP) courses can take advantage of a unique course offered at Texas A&M International University this summer.

Known as The Advancement Placement Summer Institute, the course offers high school educators the information, tools and strategies they need to build successful AP programs in their schools.

The Institute will be held July 21-24 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Early registration will be held May 26-June 12 and tuition will be $400. Regular registration will be June 16-June 26 and tuition will be $450. Late registration will be held June 30 and thereafter. Late tuition will be $500.

Jessica Villarreal, program coordinator, said instruction subject areas include Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, English Literature for middle school, English Pre-AP for high school, Geography Pre-AP, Mathematics Pre-AP for middle school, Spanish Literature and U.S. History.

Instructors will be consultants endorsed by the College Board.

University summer office hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The University is closed on Fridays.
