Students at Texas A&M International University will have access to additional scholarship funds and a summer program will be enhanced thanks to the generosity of the Laredo Manufacturers' Association, which has provided a $4,000 gift.

The Gift was presented at the LMA's May 15 meeting at the Laredo Country Club. Present at the meeting to receive the gift were TAMIU president Dr. Ray Keck and vice president for Institutional Advancement Candy Hein. Representing the LMA were LMA president Larry Shaw, LMA executive director David Cardwell and LMA Board advisor John Adams.

To date, the LMA has provided approximately $200,000 in scholarship funds to TAMIU.

Thursday's gift will support the University's Youth Entrepreneurship Summer (YES) Camp as well as student scholarships.

Dr. Keck said the University is grateful to have the support of the LMA.

"We are fortunate to have the support and partnership of the Laredo Manufacturers' Association as we help students attain their educational dreams. We applaud the initiative that the LMA has taken in encouraging our youth and would like to invite others to join us in accomplishing similar goals," he said.

Founded in 1984, the LMA represents and promotes the long-term industrial and allied service interests of Los Dos Laredos. It strives to achieve community unity by maintaining an active involvement with other civic and educational organizations and by enhancing the community's industrial base.
