This Fall, Texas A&M International University students have new food choices with the opening of Subway and Bene Pizza by Aramark, the University's food service provider.

While retaining most of the current offerings, such as Grille Works, Salad Bar, Mexican and Chinese food, Ozzie Muñóz, food service director, explained Aramark now features a Subway restaurant in the Student Center Food Court and Bene Pizza in Bob Bullock Hall, room 115.

"We're very pleased to bring the new Bene Pizza and Subway to the TAMIU family. We hope these additions will accommodate and improve clientele satisfaction and we are looking forward to a great and successful year," he continued.

José García, vice president for finance and administration, hoped TAMIU students, faculty and staff, as well as visitors to the campus, would find an enjoyable eating atmosphere.

"We're very pleased to be able to offer expanded selection to the students and other members of the University community. This is something we know people have been wanting, and we hope that the new choices will help enhance the dinning choices on campus," said García.

Subway is famous for its commercials featuring Jared Fogle, who lost 235 pounds by combining Subway sandwiches with an exercise program. Fogle was at TAMIU last January as part of the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk.

The nationwide chain offers submarine sandwiches, also know as subs or hoagies, including "Subway Classics," which feature cold cuts such as turkey, ham and salami; "Subway Selects," a more gourmet and varied selection including hot subs like the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki and Southwest Turkey Bacon; and the "7 under 6 collection," which features seven sandwiches with six grams of fat or less. The hours for Subway will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday. The rest of the Food Court is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday.

Bene Pizza will offer pizza, calzones and an extended variety of Italian pastas. The satellite location will be open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday.
