Early Registration for Spring 2004 Courses at TAMIU Nov. 10 -21

Early Registration for Spring Semester 2004 courses at Texas A&M International University will be held Nov. 10 - 21 in the Office of the Registrar, located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 168.

Barbara Lunce, University Registrar, encouraged students who prefer not to wait in long lines to take advantage of Early Registration.

"Students need to start their early registration process by first seeing their faculty advisor," she said, "New transfer students should register early by appointment with advisors in the Office of the registrar. All students, including first-time freshmen and transfer students are encouraged to attend Orientation Jan. 14.

Students who need to check their holds may do so online through https://lasso.tamiu.edu/ahomepg.htm

Students who are applying for TAMIU admission for the first time could submit their application by visiting the website: applytexas.org

Applications can also be downloaded from the TAMIU website: www.tamiu.edu/affairs/admissions

Freshmen who need more information should contact the University's Office of Admissions, 326-2201.

Students transferring from Laredo Community College may apply or request information at the TAMIU Outreach Office, located in LCC's University Hall, room 211 or by calling 796-1975.

No registration fees are due until January and new exemptions allow visa holders and undocumented aliens to be charged in-State tuition under House Bill 1403, which provides them an opportunity to attend a university and pay in-state tuition.

María Rosillo, director of admissions, explained that a number of financial aid and scholarship resources are available for students considering attending TAMIU.

"We have various opportunities available for our students and our Financial Aid Office is always ready to guide them through the process of applying for financial aid and scholarships," Rosillo said, "In addition, for Mexican citizens, we have a resource called the Mexican Tuition Waiver, which allows students to pay in-state tuition for the courses they take."

Students may obtain copies of Spring course schedules at the University or by calling the Office of Admissions at 326-2201. Spring course schedules are also available online at the University's Home Page, www.tamiu.edu

For more information on TAMIU Early Registration, please contact the University's Office of the Registrar at 326-2250. Office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
