Texas A&M International University dancers will dress in fall colors and herald autumn's arrival at the University's 2003 Fall Dance Concert to be held on two evenings, Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 at the new Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

The concerts, which celebrate the work of Fall semester dance students, will be held at 8 p.m. on both evenings at the Center's Recital Hall. Admission is free and the community is invited to attend.

With a diverse repertoire that includes classical ballet, flamenco, jazz, and modern dances, the concerts will feature choreographed dances to music by Enya, Michael Jackson, and Gloria Estefan. Flamenco songs will include "Sevilla," "La Boda de Luis Alonzo," and "Alegrías."

Dancers will include members of the Jazz and Ballet classes, the Modern Performance Troupe and the Flamenco Troupe.

Bede Leyendecker, assistant professor of dance, said she is delighted to organize the Concert and invite the audience to witness the growth of the dance program at TAMIU.

"We will also present a dance choreographed by Sylvia Martínez, who is fulfilling her requirements for the 'Concert Choreography' class," Leyendecker said.

The event will also include guest groups like The Lyndon B. Johnson High School Dream Catchers, under the direction of Jessica Ramón-Hall; The V.M.T. Magnet School Dancers, directed by Cheryl Kirkpatrick; and The United Middle School Maverettes; directed by Laura Salinas.

The Dance Concert is under the artistic direction of Leyendecker.
