Seeking to provide greater access to its concerts, the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra and El Metro will offer free bus transportation to Sunday's 4 p.m. opening performance of the LPO's 24th season.

Persons wanting transportation can go to the Park and Ride at Daugherty and Hillside (old Air Force Base) or the Recreation Center, Bartlett and Zacatecas.

Buses will begin to leave these sites at 3:00 p.m. and head to Texas A&M International University's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, location for the concert.

Buses will shuttle as needed, but will be back at the site by 6 p.m. to return concert-goers to their starting location. There will be no cost for the transportation.

Single tickets for Sunday's performance are $20 for adults and $12 for seniors.

Sunday's program is "Crossing the Atlantic" and focuses on the music of the United States, Norway, Finland, England and Ireland. Soprano Julie Brown will join the LPO on some selections.

To reserve tickets, call 326-3078. Tickets will also be available for sale at Elmo Lopez Music Store, Emperor Garden Restaurant and Piccirillo's Furniture and Gifts.

The remaining LPO schedule for the 24th season is as follows:

Saturday, Jan. 31, 7:30 p.m. - "Wanders in Europe" at the LCC Martinez Fine Arts Building

Sunday, April 4 - "Springtime" at the LCC Martinez Fine Arts Building.

Sunday, May 16 - "Lite Classics" at the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.
