Student submissions for publication in Texas A&M International University's "Reflections" literary journal are being encouraged for the 2004 edition.

Sponsored by the TAMIU Writing Center, Sigma Tau Delta and the College of Arts and Sciences, the annual publication features prose/fiction, poetry, and artistic and photographic efforts by students.

This spring's 55-page effort was directed by student editor Elvira Karolina Mante and featured a diverse collection of student writings and, for the first time, photographs.

Margarita Rodriguez and Raquel Garcia are co-student editors for the 2004 edition. Submission deadline is Friday, January 30, 2004.

Guidelines for submissions are as follows:

Prose/Fiction, such as short stories or personal essays, should be 2000 words or less.

Poetry should be no more than 65 lines long; music lyrics are also accepted. All written work may be submitted in any language; works submitted in a language other than English or Spanish must be accompanied by an English translation.

Submissions should be on plain white paper; the author's name should not appear on the submission but on a separate cover page.

Art submissions may be black and white or color. Painting, drawings, prints, and graphic art design are accepted and should be submitted on CD.

Photography should follow art submission guidelines and should also be submitted on CD. In addition, all art and photography submissions must be 300 dpi minimum resolution, accompanied by a print-out copy and free of copyright infringements.
