New Student, Transfer, Graduate Student Orientation at TAMIU Jan. 14

Orientation for first-year, transfer and graduate students at Texas A&M International University will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the University's Western Hemispheric Trade Center.

Students are highly encouraged to attend this event, which is free of charge, so that they can become acquainted with University programs, courses, requirements and services, said Lisa Flores, director of Student Activities.

Students may register to attend Orientation by contacting the Student Activities Office at 326-2280. Students may also register at the lobby of the Western Hemispheric Trade Center on the day of Orientation.

Flores said that at the event, students will be able to learn about numerous University departments and the services they offer, as well as test requirements and how to register. Graduate students will also have a chance to meet their respective college representatives and receive information about college requirements and expectations.

"Faculty representatives from each of the colleges will also be available on site to meet and guide students," Flores said.

The event will also include an Information Fair at 5:30 p.m., which will introduce students to the various student organizations and opportunities for extra curricular activities available at TAMIU, Flores said.

University Registration for Spring Semester 2004 courses is underway at TAMIU. General Registration will be held Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. in the Student Center. Classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 20. Late registration will continue through 5 p.m., Jan. 26.

Registration information is available by calling the Office of the Registrar at 326.2250 or by visiting offices located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 168F.

Student Services office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
