'Latin America Week' Scheduled at TAMIU

Texas A&M International University will bring another continent to campus for one week during "Latin America at TAMIU" beginning Wednesday, March 31 and ending Wednesday, April 7.

Here are the scheduled events:

Wednesday, March 31 "Mary the Christian Goddess and Marianismo in the 21st Century," presented by Dr. Jackie Jeffrey, 12 p.m., Student Center, room 230.

Thursday, April 1 Brazilian Trio, Music in the Rotunda, 12 p.m., Student Center Rotunda.

Study Abroad Table, International Exchange & Study Abroad Programs, 12 p.m. Student Center Food Court.

Friday, April 2 "Conga Lessons and the Bay of Pigs" movie, 11 a.m., Bob Bullock Hall, room 101

Guitar Ensemble, Music in the Rotunda, 12 p.m., Student Center Rotunda.

Monday, April 5 "Free Trade in the Americas," Panel Discussion, 1 p.m., Student Center, room 230.

"Impressions of Travel in Cuba: Alejandro Maza" Student Discussion, 2:30 p.m., Student Center, room 230.

"Research Resources for Faculty and Students from the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade," Tour, 4 p.m., Western Hemispheric Trade Center Lobby.

Tuesday, April 6 "Conga Lessons and the Bay of Pigs" movie, 11 a.m., Bob Bullock Hall, room 101

"Sidewalk Art and History: David Alfaro Siquieros' 'The New Democracy'" TAMIU student Art Club will recreate the artwork of Siquieros, and the History Club will discuss on site the historical significance and background of the piece. 12 p.m., Student Center Patio.

"Careers in Latin America: Foreign Service and Other Careers," Office of Career Services, and the U.S. Consulate 2 p.m., Student Center, room 230.

Wednesday, April 7 Berdahl Ensemble, Music in the Rotunda, 12 p.m., Student Center Rotunda.

Study Abroad Table, International Exchange & Study Abroad Programs, 12 p.m. Student Center Food Court.

"The School of the Americas," movie and discussion, 1 p.m., Bob Bullock Hall, room 113.

"Research Resources for Faculty and Students from the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade," Tour, 3 p.m., Western Hemispheric Trade Center Lobby.
