Access to an on-line community survey assessing Laredo's quality of life will come to an end Friday, July 30 at 6 p.m.

The survey is located on Texas A&M International University's web site, at www.tamiu.edu

Dr. Michael Patrick, director of Texas A&M International University's Texas Center for Border Economics and Enterprise Development, which has directed the survey, said response has been heartening.

"We've been impressed by the responses gathered in face to face interviews, from social and civic groups and major employers and in our on-line survey. We will be entering the data throughout August and beginning our analysis in September," Dr. Patrick said.

The survey, dubbed "Laredo Speaks/ Habla Laredo: A Community Survey" is part of the city's 250th anniversary celebration. It provides a forum for Laredoans to share their perceptions of the Gateway City's quality of life and suggest what Laredo's future quality of life should include.

Data yielded from the survey will be presented to community- based discussion groups who will develop an appropriate plan of action and recommended implementation schedule.

Funding partnerships including The Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Laredo Development Foundation and The Laredo Morning Times assisted "Laredo Speaks/Habla Laredo."
