Hundreds of Texas A&M International University alumni, students, faculty, staff and athletics fans will unite to show their support and prepare the University's Dustdevils for a victorious school year at the 3rd annual Welcome Week Pep Rally following Fall Convocation Thursday, September 2. The Rally will take place at the back patio of the Student Center from 1 - 2:30 p.m.

The Rally, sponsored by the Interim Student Programming Board (ISPB), will include performances by the TAMIU Dustdevil Cheerleaders and members of the High Twisters. Attendees will enjoy a free lunch and have an opportunity to jam out to music by Guerra Communication's Energy 98.1 FM. The Pep Rally is free and open to the public.

The Pep Rally concludes Welcome Week, a collection of events that offers alumni, students, faculty and staff the opportunity to become acquainted with one another. A pool party initiates Welcome Week, and will be held Sunday, August 29, at the Residential Learning Community at 6:30 p.m.

Club Rush will allow student organizations to recruit future prospects Monday, August 30, and Tuesday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Green. Wednesday's social event will be held in TAMIU's Lamar Bruni Vergara Memorial Garden from 6 to 8 p.m.

"This event allows students, faculty and staff to come together and support the athletes as well as the University's spirit. This will mark the beginning of our continued efforts to show support for anyone and everyone that steps onto this campus," said Stanley Pearson, associate director of the Office of Student Activities, "The community is always welcome to see what this incredible institution has to offer and we encourage their participation and trust that it will be a positive experience leading to excellent opportunities to participate and embrace the campus."
