Students of Texas A&M International University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts will show off their talents at the 2004 Fall Dance Concert, on Friday, November 19 at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. This event is open to the public and admission is $5 at the door.

Bede Leyendecker, assistant professor, said the evening will introduce the audience to various dance styles being taught at TAMIU, and demonstrate the abilities of the students.

"It will be wonderful to see all the hard work the students have put into the semester. Because so many different groups will participate, the audience will get to see a cross-section of the dance world," Leyendecker said.

The jazz and ballet classes, the Modern Performance Troupe, the Flamenco Troupe and the Concert Choreography class will all contribute to the program.

"With music composed by such diverse artists as Shakira, Destiny's Child, traditional Flamenco music and the waltz from Tchaikovsky's ballet 'Sleeping Beauty,' everyone is bound to see something they like and probably something they've never seen before," explained Leyendecker.

This semester's concert will also feature the choreographic works of ten university students. Jennifer Brewster, Adriana Canales, Alex Cardenas, Gabriela Chapa, Juan Pablo Flores, Ivette Ortega, Jackie Reyes, Monica Reyes, Cindy Rodriguez and Victor Soto will present dances in fulfillment of their requirements for the 'Concert Choreography' class.
