Children from ages five and above can discover the joy of dance and learn about Mexican history and culture through Texas A&M International University's Ballet Folklórico classes.

Classes begin Saturday, February 5 for new students and Saturday, January 15 for returning students. Classes end Saturday, April 23. Children ages 10 years and up will meet every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., children from ages eight to 10 will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and ages five through seven will meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuition is $30 per month or $80 for the session, if paid in advance on the first day of class.

Gabriella Mendoza-García directs the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico and the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Juvenil, and said her professional experience as a dancer provides students with an informative and fun environment.

"I love to dance and to share the world of dance with my students. We are constantly learning new dances from areas throughout Mexico and the children really learn a lot, not only from the physical movement, but from the history that goes with every dance," said Mendoza-García.
