GEAR UP BUSINESS CAREER NIGHT THURSDAY FOR ALEXANDER, NIXON PARENTS, STUDENTS

Over 150 Alexander and Nixon High School GEAR UP students and their parents will benefit from a Business Careers Parent Night scheduled tonight at 6:30 pm. at Texas A&M International University's Student Center.

The program will provide students and parents with an opportunity to explore careers in business with special representatives. Scheduled guests include TAMIU, the Laredo Bucks, Laredo National Bank, Valley Mortgage, Holiday Inn Hotel, the Laredo Parks and Recreation Department, the South Texas Workforce Development Board, and the Laredo Chamber of Commerce.

The evening is part of a collaborative partnership with Eddie Millan, education and workforce coordinator for the Laredo Chamber of Commerce. Door prizes will be provided and GEAR UP Students of the Month recognized.

GEAR UP is a federal initiative aimed at preparing high school students to pursue post-secondary education, and is directed by TAMIU's Office of Special Programs.
