Postseason Tournament Set

The 2005 Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will be held Mar. 3-5 on the Southwestern Assemblies of God University campus in Waxahachie. The top eight teams in the regular season standings will qualify for postseason play. Quarterfinal round games will be played on Mar. 3, semifinal round games on Mar. 4 and the championship game on Mar. 5. The RRAC receives two automatic bids to the NAIA National Tournament.

Noteworthy

TAMIU will conclude the regular season by playing eight of nine games on the road. All eight road games are against Red River Athletic competition but that may not be such a bad thing considering that TAMIU has a 2-1 conference road record this season ... Senior Kyle Edwards notched his fifth double-double of the season in Monday's win over Bacone College, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Ironically, TAMIU has a 1-4 record in games in which Edwards achieves double-double status ... Junior Bo Aluka scored in double-figures for the first time in 10 games by contributing 14 points in Monday's win over Bacone. Aluka has scored in double-figures five times with a season-high 16 points in a win over UT-Permian Basin on Dec. 18.

The Program & Head Coach

The Texas A&M International University women's basketball team is competing as a second year program as members of the NAIA and Red River Athletic Conference. He guided the Dustdevils to a 14-20 overall record in their inaugural season of competition, including a 13-5 mark over the final 18 games. TAMIU finished fifth in the RRAC regular season standings with a 12-10 record before advancing to the semifinal round of the conference postseason tournament. García has a career and school record of 25-30.
