Social workers interested in continuing their education can sign up for a workshop offered by Texas A&M International University Friday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Western Hemispheric Trade Center 103.

The workshop, sponsored by TAMIU's Social Work Program, will focus on exploring personal beliefs about child abuse and neglect intervention and identifying core values to work with families. It will also help individuals identify and solve ethical dilemmas presented to them in their daily operations. Participants will take part in skill-building exercises.

The presenter for the workshop, Donna M. Garrett, is an instructor at Our Lady of the Lake University's Worden School of Social Service, a field instructor at Bexar County Juvenile Probation for San Antonio and a facilitator for Protective Services Training Institute in Austin.

Anyone interested in attending may register by visiting the Office of Special Programs located at the Student Center in room 118. Registration will continue through the day of the workshop from 9 - 9:30 a.m. Early registration is recommended. Tuition for the session is $50.

All attendees will receive a certificate of completion plus three social work continuing education units.
