On Sunday, April 17 the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra will present its final concert of the 25th Anniversary Season at Texas A&M International University's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall at 4 p.m.

The programmatic theme for this season has been "Silver Memories, Golden Dreams." In this final concert entitled "Music of the Golden Ages" the musical selections highlight some of the most popular orchestral works around the world.

Admission to the concert is open to the public and tickets cost $20 for adults, $12 for seniors, and students (with an ID card) can enter free.

Tickets are available at LCC and TAMIU business offices, Elmo Lopez Music Company, The Jardeniere, Foster's , Starbuck's, corner of McPherson and Del Mar, Piccirillo and Emperor Garden Restaurant.

The featured soloist, Adam Jackson, is a young pianist from Fort Worth who has already achieved phenomenal success around the country in piano and music competitions. A former Van Cliburn Foundation fellow, he was the overall winner of the Young Texas Artist Competition in Conroe, TX in 2004. There he met LPO Music Director Brendan Townsend who was overwhelmed by the abundance of talent and immediately invited him to perform in Laredo.

"I have no doubt that our Laredo audience will be blown away by the energy, the musicality, and the technical brilliance of this young man," Townsend confirmed.

Jackson will perform the 1st Piano Concerto of Tchaikovsky, which stands out as one of the most popular piano works of all time.

Also on the program are the 3rd Suite of Bach, the Gold and Silver Waltz of Lehar, and the very powerful and moving Pines of Rome by Respighi.
