TAMIU Spring Commencement Saturday Features Largest Class in History

Candidates for graduation from Texas A&M International University will cross the stage Saturday and walk into history as the University's largest graduating class.

Candidates earning undergraduate or graduate degrees number 365 with 306 undergraduate and 59 graduate degrees to be awarded.      

Outdoor Ceremonies will take place Saturday, May 14 at 8 p.m. on the Plaza in front of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

Robert D. McTeer, Chancellor for The Texas A&M University System, will provide the Commencement Address. McTeer was named Chancellor of The Texas A&M University System on Nov. 4, 2004.

Other interesting facts about the TAMIU Spring Graduating Class:

The College of Arts and Sciences has the highest number of graduates (135) = 37%

The average overall age is 27 for undergraduates and 33 for graduates.

The youngest and oldest graduates this Spring are 19 and 57.

Of graduate degree candidates, 21 of 59 hold undergraduate degrees from TAMIU.

The Dr. F. M. Canseco School of  Nursing will have 28 candidates for graduation with the BS in Nursing.

There are 34 graduates receiving either undergraduate or graduate degrees that hail from 4 countries other than the US (El Salvador, Mexico, India, United Arab Emirates).
