Texas A&M International University Dance students sure know how to live up to Texas’ reputation of everything being big with this weekend’s “Seven Flags – Seven Cultures Festival” at the Civic Center grounds celebrating Independence this weekend.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children 7–12 years of age. Children 6 years and under, senior citizens and veterans gain free admission with verifiable documents.

Festivities begin Friday, July 1 from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. in the Civic Center grounds located on 2400 San Bernardo Avenue. TAMIU Dance students will perform on the Seven Flags main stage at 4:30, 6, 8, and 9:30 p.m. representing Laredo’s rich culture and heritage.

Celebrations continue through Saturday, July 2 from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. with performances by TAMIU Dance students happening at 4:30, 6, 8:30 and 10 p.m. on the Seven Flags main stage.

University Dance students will exhibit and perform four of the seven flags that Laredo has flown under at each show and will alternate performances for two more flags throughout the weekend. The flags presented include: Spain, France, Mexico, Texas, the Republic of the Rio Grande, the Confederate States of America and, since 1865, the United States of America.
