Dance China NY Performs at Tamiu Sept. 28

A rare opportunity to experience traditional Chinese dance and music performance will occur at the Mid-Autumn Festival, part of Texas A&M International University's 35th Anniversary Celebration, on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 8:30 p.m. in TAMIU's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Guest artists are Dance China NY, America's premier traditional Chinese dance company.

Tickets are $5 per person and available at the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 262. They will also be available at the door on the night of the performance.  For more information, call the Office of Institutional Advancement at 326.2175.

Manhattan-based Dance China NY (DCNY) is in residence at the New York Chinese Cultural Center. It was founded in 1973 in New York City's Chinatown.

DCNY dancers and musicians include internationally-renowned artists from performance stages and academies throughout mainland China, Taiwan and the U.S.

They perform a vast and dynamic range of Chinese dance and Peking Opera styles, transporting audiences to a world of colorful myths, historical drama and timeless beauty.

Annually, DCNY performs at 500 events, reaching a combined audience of over 180,000 people. DCNY also teaches Chinese dance and visual arts to over 300 students a year the New York Chinese Cultural Center's community School of the Arts.
