Brush up on your jazz at Texas A&M International University Sunday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Renowned dancer, dynamic teacher, choreographer and dancer Scott Conway will conduct the workshop at TAMIU’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Sam Johnson Black Box Theatre. Although the workshop is free and open to dancers ages 14 and older, early registration is recommended.

Conway is originally from San Diego, Calif. He received his dance training at the California Ballet School, later becoming a company member dancing in numerous ballet classics. Upon receiving his BFA in musical theater directing and choreographing from United States International University, Conway became a member of the Actors Equity Association, performing in dinner theaters, regional theaters, summer stock, several world tours and theme parks.

Having worked four years at Walt Disney World, Conway moved to San Antonio to open Sea World of Texas as manager of show productions and then opened Fiesta Texas, where he directed and choreographed the number one theme park show in the nation, “Rockin' At Rockville High.” He won the Globe Award twice for best choreography in San Antonio.

Conway is sought after as both a judge and a master teacher for competitions and production companies. In 1991, he founded the Alamo City Dance Company, which performs the largest production of “The Nutcracker” in San Antonio every year with a cast of 140 featuring stars from the Bolshoi and New York City ballets.
