Texas A&M International University’s soccer teams will travel to Oklahoma this weekend with each slated to play two games against Sooner Athletic Conference competition.  The road swing will begin on Friday with the men playing at Southern Nazarene and the women playing at Oklahoma City University.  Both teams will play at Science & Arts of Oklahoma on Saturday.

Southern Nazarene has defeated TAMIU the last two seasons in the NAIA Region VI Tournament, coming away with a 3-1 win in last season’s tournament championship game.  SNU is off to a 6-0-1 start this season, ranking fourth in this week’s NAIA Top-25 poll.  Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between TAMIU and Science & Arts.  The Drovers have posted a 4-1 record this season.

TAMIU and Science & Arts have a common opponent, St. Gregory’s, this season.  The Dustdevils defeated SGU, 2-0, on Sept. 10 in Laredo and the Drovers beat SGU, 1-0, on Tuesday on the home field in Chickasha, Okla.

The Dustdevil women’s team faces a tough test against Oklahoma City.  OCU stands at 7-0-1 this season, ranking 13th in this week’s NAIA Top-25 poll.  Science & Arts defeated St. Gregory’s on Tuesday to improve to 3-3-1 for the season. TAMIU defeated the Drovers, 4-3, last season in a neutral site game in Dallas.

Volleyball Notes
TAMIU is off to another great start with a 9-3 record after 12 matches played this season.  The Dustdevils started 11-1 in 2002, 6-6 in 2003 and 10-2 last season.  TAMIU is on pace to challenge last season’s single-season record of 25 wins ... After dropping a heartbreaking five-game match at UT-Pan American on Tuesday night the Dustdevils will take a nine-day break before returning to the court on Friday, Sept. 30.  TAMIU will play three conference matches in two days upon its return, all neutral site contests at Houston Baptist.  The Dustdevils will play Bacone College and UT-Permian Basin on Sept. 30 before facing Paul Quinn College on Saturday, Oct. 1.
