It’s Time for AutMus and TAMIU’s 35th Anniversary Reunion This Weekend

It’s a party 35 years in the making, and it’s a chance to come home to a place that didn’t even exist 35 years ago!

It’s Texas A&M International University’s 35th Anniversary Reunion Weekend scheduled Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9 at the northeast Laredo campus.

The Reunion is a chance for graduates of  Texas A&I University at Laredo, Laredo State University and TAMIU to join and revisit their alma mater, meet old friends and make new ones.
The Reunion Weekend gets underway on Saturday with the presentation of AutMus Fest, open to the community from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. featuring 12 bands on two stages. Various  musical genres and styles will be available, including country-rock, cumbia, funk, fusion, jazz, rock, rock en español, ska, Tejano, and more.

Fun and food will welcome audiences of all ages to enjoy this first-ever opportunity to celebrate culture and music at TAMIU. Tickets are $5 pre-sale at Popeyes Restaurants and $10 at the door. Additional info is available online at autmusfest.com

The Reunion Weekend continues for alumni with College Reunions from 1- 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. The first 100 Texas A&I or LSU graduates who register will receive a free TAMIU diploma.
The University’s three Colleges and Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing will hold receptions for alumni  at various sites on campus.  Registration will take place at 1 in the Student Center Rotunda. Receptions follow at 1:30.

At 4 p.m., alumni can attend a special performance by the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts’ Recital Hall.  The performance, lead by LPO Maestro and music director Brendan Townsend, is “Music and the Human Spirit.” Alumni can also attend an Alumni Extravaganza Planetarium Show in the new Lamar Bruni Vergara Science Center and Planetarium at 4, 5 or 6 p.m. Shows are free to alumni and $3 for guests.
