A traditional presentation of the ageless tale of Las Posadas will take place Friday evening at 7 at the Texas A&M International University Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

This event is free and open to the public and presented by the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico. Families are encouraged to come and bring their children.

"Las Posadas is one of the oldest traditions at TAMIU that was begun by the members of the Student Government Association and the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico in 1997. The students wanted to preserve the traditional Mexican posada and celebrate it here on campus. This celebration began as a very simple event and has grown...becoming a well-loved tradition at TAMIU and in Laredo," said Gabriela Mendoza-García, director and founder of the Ballet Folklórico.

Guests will stroll through the TAMIU campus and also be treated to entertainment that includes dances from across México, including the premiere of dances from the porfiorato era in Mexican history.

Performers include the TAMIU  Ballet Folklórico, TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Juvenil, Honore Ligarde Elementary  Ballet Folklórico, Gabriela M. Garcia's Ballet Folklórico Infantil, United  High School Ballet Folklórico, and Gonzalez Middle School Ballet Folklórico.
