Women's Health Conference Returns to TAMIU On Saturday, Feb. 4

For the second year, KLRN, in partnership with Texas A&M International University, is bringing its Women's Health Conference to Laredo on Saturday,  Feb. 4 at the TAMIU Student Center from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The KLRN Laredo Women's Health Conference is designed to empower women with knowledge to help them make informed choices about their health. Co-chairs for the  event are Patsy Flores and Frances Salinas. Honorary chair is Diane Gates.

Conference admission is $30 and includes a full day of informative speakers and breakout sessions, health screenings, a continental breakfast, a formal luncheon and a gift bag.

Keynote speaker will be  Dr. Sam Benjamin who will address "Complementary and Alternative Medicine.  He is corporate medical director of integrative health strategies for Humana. Previously, he served as a clinical associate professor and director of the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) at State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. While there, he also hosted a radio show on CAM-related topics on WOR-AM in New York City.

During the breakout sessions, national and local speakers will address women's health topics including planning for a healthy pregnancy, building good credit, global health and nutrition,  women's bladder issues, fundamentals of fitness and health, healthy moms and healthy families, diabetes, heart disease and nutrition, obesity prevention, multiple sclerosis and wellness products.
