Visit the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium with a Spanish-speaking friend or experience the shows in a different way. On Friday, Feb. 17, the two Planetarium shows will be shown entirely in Spanish. "Microcosmos" is scheduled for 7 p.m. and "Maravillas del Universo" at 8 p.m.

"Microcosmo" is the Spanish version of "Microcosm - The Adventure Within," currently on the rotation at the Planetarium. The feature takes audiences to the Center of Miniaturized Medicine in the year 2053 and travels from the base of the eye to the interior of the heart. Viewers "shrink" to the size of a microbe and are injected into a patient who suffers from an infection from a mysterious virus. Audiences will gather clues the virus has left behind as they race to save the patient.

"Maravillas del Universo" or "Wonders of the Universe" is designed for children in upper grades and adults. The show allows audiences to peer deep into space and take a tour through the eyes of the Hubble Space Telescope, travel back billions of years in time, witness the formation of galaxies and explore nebulae and astronomical structures yet discovered.

General admission tickets cost $5; tickets for TAMIU students, faculty and staff and children under 12 are $4. Buy a ticket for a second showing on the same weekend, and save $2 off the second ticket. Group rates are available for 50 or more people; advance reservations required.
