Learn Computer Basics at TAMIU Saturday

Worried about the computer age and how you can join in?

Learn basic computer skills and set up an e-mail account with the help of a computer introduction course offered by Texas A&M International University's Continuing Education Programs. The class meets Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, room 117.

      

Tuition is $45.

      

"The course has been developed with the novice user in mind as an introduction to using a computer. Students will be taught to recognize the basic components of a computer - monitor, keyboard, mouse, CPU; basic computer terminology, Windows environment, creating and printing a basic document and an introduction to the Internet," explained Jacqueline O. Benavides, data information specialist and course instructor.

      

Students will also learn how to create their own online account and learn about viruses. Upon successful completion of this course, users will also be able to recognize various computing components, programs, terminology, the Web and e-mail functions, and effective use of their new skills, added Benavides.

Spaces are limited. Early registration is encouraged.
