Currently, the two departments have been collaborating on research studies of personality traits of undergraduates at both universities.

Representing UDEM was Maria de Refugio Garrido, chair of the UDEM psychology department, and Hermelinda Leal Treviño, associate professor.

TAMIU participants included College dean Dr. Nasser Momayezi, Dr. Bonnie Rudolph, TAMIU associate professor; Mary Chavez, TAMIU adjunct faculty, and Dr. John Kilburn, TAMIU associate professor and chair, department of Behavioral, Applied Sciences and Criminal Justice.

During the visit, the group also discussed teaching strategies at both locations, visited TAMIU psychology labs and observed undergraduate and graduate classes.

Additional collaborations are aimed at seeing UDEM students undertake graduate study in TAMIU’s Masters in Counseling Psychology program, while TAMIU undergraduates would undertake some studies at the Monterrey campus.

Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Nasser Momayezi, said the collaboration is a strong opportunity for students at both campuses.

“These collaborative efforts could provide remarkable opportunities for students at both campuses and help to further underscore the University’s international commitment to preparing students for the global workplace,” Dr. Momayezi said.

The TAMIU group will soon visit the UDEM campus to further define collaborative possibilities.
