New Art Classes Offered at TAMIU This Summer

Considering taking an art class but can’t draw a straight line? Do you like to work with your hands? Leave the artwork to the experts and learn how they did it and why by registering for art classes offered by Texas A&M International University’s College of Arts and Sciences’ department of fine and performing arts this summer.

You can learn to make sense of the images bombarding our daily culture with “The Survey of Art from Pre-History through the Renaissance.” With this class, you can learn to appreciate or understand art from these different periods. Class meets Monday through Thursday, 2:45 – 4:45 p.m.

Have you always wondered what Alicia Silverstone meant when she described a girl as being a “Full-on Monet” in “Clueless”? Who was Whistler’s mother? Why was Picasso blue? Get clued to what those references really mean with Dr. Richard Wright’s course, “Art History Survey: Renaissance to Modern.” Classes meet Monday through Thursday, 10:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

If hands-on is more your style, register for a “Ceramics” class. Get in it up to your elbows as you learn the craft of working in clay. Art majors should have ARTS 1312 and all others may enroll with departmental permission. “Ceramic” meets Monday through Thursday, 10:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Summer Session I Classes begin Monday, June 5.
