Texas A&M International University (TAMIU)  has been ranked in the top 50 of educational institutions that award bachelor’s and master’s degrees to Hispanic students.

In its May 8 issue, Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine ranks the top 100 colleges and universities in terms of degrees awarded to Hispanic students based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics for the 2004-2005 school year.

TAMIU ranked 32nd on the list of national universities awarding bachelor’s degrees. Of institutions awarding master’s degrees, TAMIU was 47th. The rankings are available at hispanicoutlook.com

TAMIU president Ray Keck said the rankings are indicative of the University fulfilling its service mission.

“TAMIU’s mission is all about providing accessible, affordable higher education.  That mission has not changed in over 35 years of service and we are gratified to see that our rankings reflect delivery of that service.  We are proud to prepare all students, particularly Hispanics, to become our future leaders and decision-brokers.  By serving them, we serve the future we all share. We look forward to the day when we are included in the ranking of doctoral programs as our doctoral students begin graduating,” he said.

He expressed his thanks to the University community for its steadfast support in making the rankings possible.

“Our entire University community:  students, faculty and staff, make this possible.  Every day, they work hard to make dreams come true.  These rankings attest to their shared commitment,” he noted.
