The community is invited to attend the annual Young Dancers Program recital at Texas A&M International University's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall, Sunday, May 21 at 3 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.

"The students have been working on a variety of dances that will appeal to a wide variety of audiences.  The ballet classes will be performing to music from Disney classics; the tappers will follow a country theme and the Spanish dance will include a mix of classical, traditional and new age flair.  There will also be jazz and hip-hop ... something for everyone," exclaimed Bede Leyendecker, assistant professor of dance.

The Young Dancer Program is a community-based program that holds classes from September-May, offering children ages two to 11 a combination class including ballet, tap and Spanish dance and Teen/Adult classes in ballet, tap, jazz and Spanish dance. Admission to the event is free of charge, thanks to the support of TAMIU's department of fine and performing arts.

For more information, please contact Leyendecker at 326.2625, visit offices in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, room 115 or e-mail bleyendecker@tamiu.edu.

University office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
