Free Child Identification Program at TAMIU, Friday, June 16

Take an extra step to protect your children by participating in the Child Identification Program sponsored by Texas A&M International University’s Police Department.

The event will take place Friday, June 16 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Student Center second floor.

This event is free and open to the public.

“We are offering this service as part of our new Campus Crime Prevention Program. During the summer, there are many children on campus who attend our summer camps. Also, a lot of our students have children and we wanted this program to be accessible on campus,” said Jaime J. Castro, campus crime prevention officer.

Parents will receive an I.D. kit that includes their child’s thumbprints, physical description and a photo.

“That way, if the child is missing, the parents will be able to provide this information to any law enforcement agency and they will have an accurate description of the child,” explained Castro.

Other upcoming events include a Bike Rodeo Safety Course for kids on July 8 at the Student Center parking lot and a Campus Night Out in August.
