The Texas A&M International University Police Department and  Campus Crime Watch Program will host a Bike Safety Course this Saturday, July 8 from 8:00am to 11:00am at the Student Center Parking Lot.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge.

All riders must bring their own bikes, helmets and or any elbow and knee pads.  Parents must accompany their children and remain with their children at all times.

Registration will take place at 8:00 am followed by a  bike and helmet inspection.

The course is simple and is intended for children to become familiar with safety signs, road hazards and, most importantly, how to safely operate a bicycle.

The University Police Department will be joined by the Laredo Police Department Bicycle Unit and the U.S. Border Patrol Bicycle Unit.  All will demonstrate their use of bikes as well as some fun tricks.

The event is co-sponsored by the University's offices  of the associate vice president for Student Services and the and the vice president for Institutional Advancement.
