Intensive ESL Courses Starting at TAMIU

Non-native English speakers who seek to advance professionally or academically or just want to improve their English skills should make plans to register for intensive English as a second language (ESL) classes offered by Texas A&M International University's International Language Institute (ILI). Register now through Friday, Oct. 20; classes begin Monday, Oct. 23.

To register, stop by the ILI office in Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 302. Admission to TAMIU is not required.

The ILI will only offer intermediate and advanced classes in the October session.

The full level course consists of listening, speaking, grammar, reading and writing (l/s/g and r/w), and costs $1,098. Students are given the option of dividing the complete level into two half levels by taking the l/s/g component and then the reading and writing component. Each half level costs $568.

Intensive classes will be held at the University Monday - Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. The l/s/g section meets from 8:30 - 10:15 a.m. and the r/w meets from 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

All ESL students will be required to take a placement exam. The test includes listening, speaking, writing and multiple-choice questions. Fee for the placement test is $25. Tuition for the courses varies according to placement.
