A Texas A&M International University College of Business Administration faculty member has been identified as one of the top Information Systems (IS) researchers in the world in an article published in the journal Communication of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS).

Dr. Ned Kock, TAMIU associate professor of IS, division of International Business and Technology Studies, is listed as a “top IS researcher” by authors Jan Guynes Clark and John Warren, faculty members at the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business, writing in CAIS volume 18 (2006).

CAIS is considered one of the two official academic publications of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the largest international association in the IS field.

The article, “In Search of the Primary Suppliers of Research: Who Are They and Where Did They Come From,” reviewed seven leading IS journals published from 2001-2005 to identify leading IS researchers and their universities of affiliation.

The authors noted that during their survey period, 2,401 authors contributed 1,486 published articles. They maintain that “high quality research can greatly enhance the reputation of researchers and their affiliated universities…research offers visibility and prestige, as well as greater opportunities for attracting better students and faculty.”

Dr. Kock has been part of the TAMIU College of Business faculty since 2003.

He holds his Ph.D. in Management (Information Systems) from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.  His MS in Computer Science was earned at the Institute of Aeronautical Technology in Brazil.  His BEE is in Electronics Engineering from the Federal Center of Technological Education, also in Brazil.
