Looking for something different to do this Spring Break?  Why not spend Spring Break in France?

This travel opportunity, to take place March 9-17, is available for Texas A&M International University students or members of the community enrolled for Fall 2006 or registered by Nov. 17 for Spring 2007 French classes including FREN 1311 or 1312.

The trip focuses on linguistic acquisition, highlighting cultural awareness in areas such as France’s history, geography, and contemporary culture.  Participants will also complete a travel journal.

The trip includes a guided walking tour of Paris, a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral, l’Opéra and Versailles. The group will take a morning tour of the Louvre, an afternoon transfer to Avignon by bullet train, a tour of Nîmes and Arles, Avignon and its historical Papal seat.

Then, it’s off by train to the Rivera, via Cassis, and a visit to the Calanques. The group will also visit Monaco and Eze, have a guided tour of a perfume factory at Grasses, a tour of Nice, and a guided tour of St. Paul de Vence which includes visits to the ateliers of several artists, including Matisse and Picasso.

“France has so much to offer—culture, art, history, and fashion; the trip will be an exciting time for everyone,” said Dr. Annette Olsen-Fazi, TAMIU associate professor of English and French.

If interested in applying, students and/or community members must complete the Short-Term Application as well as applicable Scholarship Applications, and submit by November 1, 2006 to the TAMIU Office of International Education (OIE).

Non-TAMIU students can also attend this program if enrolled in a French course and attending classes on the TAMIU campus.  Non-TAMIU students can contact OIE for further application details.
