Get in the Christmas spirit with help from the 10th Annual Las Posadas at Texas A&M International University, this Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.

Also in its 10th year, the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico started Las Posadas to preserve the traditional Mexican posada and regional Mexican dances. This year, the event is being sponsored by Target.

During Las Posadas, guests stroll through the TAMIU campus, recreating Mary and Joseph's search for lodging in Bethlehem and at the end of the evening, children will have a chance to hit a piñata and receive colaciones, a traditional Mexican candy.

Afterward, the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico will perform dances from different regions in México, including the premiere of the dances from Chihuahua, taught by Maestro Bladimir Arredondo. There will be additional performances by the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Juvenil, TAMIU Mariachi Internacional and the Honore Ligarde Elementary Ballet Folklórico.
